Vice President Leni Robredo drew over 110,000 supporters on her second grand rally on May 1, 2022, to the vote-rich province of Cavite to continue campaigning for the upcoming election.
Before attending the major gathering at the City of Dasmariñas Football Field, Robredo barnstormed the province, conducting multi-sectoral assemblies in Alfonso and Naic.
Robredo's trip to Cavite brought her back into contact with Sherwin Abdon, the motorcycle driver who offered her a lift in General Trias during their first Cavite rally.
Local organizers revealed the number of attendees, citing the Philippine National Police (PNP).
This is more than double the number of people that attended her first rally in General Trias, Cavite, on March 4.
With only six days remaining in the campaign, Robredo urged her followers to be patient and open their minds to non-supporters.
"Ang pinaka sikreto po natin buksan natin ang ating mga puso kahit iba ‘ang paniniwala," said the vice president.
"The key is to open our hearts to various viewpoints and still love them," Robredo noted as she asserted her "radical love" key messages.
Robredo and running partner Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan got endorsements from Congressman Pidi Barzaga, as well as Dasmariñas City Mayor Jenny Barzaga, at the event.
In addition to the local lawmakers from Barzagas, Cavite, 1st District Representative Gerald "Boy Blue" Abaya and 3rd District Representative Alexander L. Advincula raised their voices in support of Robredo and Pangilinan.
In the 16th Congress, Abaya and Advincula collaborated with Robredo.
The Cavite people's rally stage was decked with butterflies and flowers, which corresponded to their theme "Banyuhay" or "bagong anyo ng buhay" (a new form of life).
The butterfly ornaments were not by chance, as Dasmariñas City, where the event was staged, is famous for its Butterfly Festival.
Robredo was defeated by Marcos by more than 152,000 votes in Cavite in 2016, but today she completes her tour of CALABARZON, the most populous area in the Philippines with nine million voters.
